Press Release
May 28, 2015
OAKLAND, Calif. (May 28, 2015) – The California League of Conservation Voters—the nonpartisan political action arm of California’s environmental movement—issued the following statement from CEO Sarah Rose in response to the California State Senate’s passage of a historic climate change bill package:
“This is a historic day for all Californians, and for California’s national and global climate leadership. We applaud Senate President pro Tem Kevin de León and his Senate colleagues for their leadership and for passing the next wave of landmark climate bills that move the Golden State into the clean energy and clean air future that our children and our grandchildren deserve. California leads the nation in energy efficiency, cleaner cars and energy storage. Our climate and clean energy laws already on the books are creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and cleaning our air. But given the ongoing climate threats to our environment and the disproportionate burden on low-income communities and communities of color, it is clear we need policies like these to more equitably reduce carbon pollution in all our communities while creating jobs where they are needed most. We look forward to mobilizing California’s voters and working with the business, environmental justice, public health, labor, and scientific communities to move these bills through the Assembly and onto Governor Brown’s desk for his signature.”
